This puzzle was inspired by both the space Finlayson was living in while in LA and the studio spaces that she and other artists were occupying while there. There are also references to artists whose work she was studying at the time hidden throughout. The palette was inspired by the warm and vibrant colours that saturate LA. While it's a painting, it can be thought of as a collage as its composition was pieced together from many different places, taking elements and objects, and envisioning them in a reinvented space.
