Block printing is a hand printing technique where patterns are carved into blocks of wood that are socked in oil to allow the wood to absorb the pigment. Then the artisans press the wood block onto the fabric to create a continuous pattern. The unique characteristics and lack of uniformity are what makes these items so special. Discharge printing uses handheld screens that produce rich, saturated prints when the pigments permeate the fabric. Through a series of colour applications and rinses the result is rich color and soft to the touch.
